There are four classifications of emergencies at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. Emergency officials and the news media may use these terms:
Unusual Event: You will not have to do anything. This means that a minor problem has taken place with no danger to the public. Federal, state and county officials will be notified of the problem.
Alert: You will not have to do anything. An Alert is also a minor problem which will not require protection outside of plant property. Federal, state and county officials will be advised of the Alert and will stand by.
Site Area Emergency: You may have to take action. If you do, the warning sirens will be activated. Turn to radio station WBAP, 820 AM for more information.
General Emergency: You will most likely need to take action. The warning sirens will be sounded. Turn to radio stations WBAP, 820 AM for more information.
